20:00 — The Hole

We invite you to a night full of poetic dance and percussion when we host the KALATVA COLLECTIVE with their piece “DIE TEILUNG DER ERDE” at The Hole.

“That is what we got, when the earth was divided:
We got the words, the sound, the dance, we got the beat.”

„Die Teilung der Erde“ ( „The division of Earth“)
is a piece for dance and percussion, based on a ballad by Schiller. Dancer and tabla player try to convey the story of the poet’s journey on earth, using German and Hindi poetry, beats, movements, loops and their own music compositions which combine both Hindustani and Carnatic classical music.

Doors open: 8 pm
Entry: 7 euros

Kalatva Collective is a project founded by 3 young Delhi based artists, trained in different Indian classical art forms. They try to explore their art beside the conventions of the classical world, creating pieces in which music and dance interact, explore, and compliments each other, thus bringing out a whole new perspective to their art form.

About the Artists:
Ghazal Ramzani is a kathak dancer with roots from Germany and Iran, learning under Pandit Rajendra Gangani ji. She tries to maintain the balance between the technical, dynamic aspects of Kathak and Bhaav, the expressional part of the dance. She has also performed in several dance festivals in India (Ujjain, Jaipur & New Delhi) and in cities like Berlin, Goettingen, Humburg and many more.

Prabhat Das, the young tabla player is learning the art of tabla from Pandit Virendra Malviya ji. He is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree in Indian classical music and also working as a Teaching Artist with Music Basti. Prabhat represented India internationally at “Ethno Music Exchanges” and has performed in Belgium and Germany in 2015 and in Sweden in 2016.
