La Haine
Film Night / Doors 8 / Film 9
A gritty, unsettling and visually explosive look at the racial and cultural volatility in modern-day France. Aimlessly passing their days in the concrete environs of their dead-end suburbia —a Jew, an African, and an Arab—give human faces to France’s immigrant populations, their bristling resentment at their marginalization slowly simmering until it reaches a climactic boiling point.
Mathieu Kassovitz took the film world by storm with La haine, a gritty, unsettling, and visually explosive look at the racial and cultural volatility in modern-day France. Aimlessly passing their days in the concrete environs of their dead-end suburbia —a Jew, an African, and an Arab—give human faces to France’s immigrant populations, their bristling resentment at their marginalization slowly simmering until it reaches a climactic boiling point. A work of tough beauty, La Haine is a landmark of contemporary French cinema and a gripping reflection of its country’s ongoing identity crisis.

Global Revolution, Local Contradictions
Living Room / Free / Opening 6
The word revolution become a global phenomenon but there is a problem in over generalizing and simplifying the motives behind specific social/political struggles within different local cases. Global Revolutions, Local Contradictions looks at the creation and distribution processes of various aesthetic-forms emerging out of specific local social and political structures. How does the mainstream translate and reenact such aesthetics into its own language?
Mindpirates e.V. have invited Dina Kafafi & Jens Maier-Rothe, Azin Feizabadi, Mirak Jamal & Nine Yamamoto and Pauline Doutreluingne & Cynthia Iurinic to contribute to the project by combining topics with various visual and textual material from their ongoing individual projects as well as invite people from their network as speakers for Global Revolutions, Local Contradictions. Each of the invited contributors have created a list of films and videos to be displayed at the Mindpirates Projektraum and a set of events in the form of film screenings, panels, presentations and performances.

Gathering / €5 / Doors 10
Alter Schwede, here we go again! The Dimensional crew is back in town from Sweden and teams up with Berlin’s Carlos de Brito to bring you the hottest jams, dancefloor heat and lots o’ joy once again. Expect disco, house and techno in all colors and of course — the unexpected. Get your dancing shoes ready, be welcome and step into the third Dimensional.
Ashez Riot (Son of Cataclysm, Dimensional / Berlin)
Is a dude and a true camel rider. His music, like his camels, shift in size, matter and function. A chunky funky house sound can perhaps describe him (somewhat) but styles will be blended and enriched. Ashez has thrown some parties, for example this one, and funky times are what matters.
Carlos de Brito (Groove, Dimensional / Berlin)
Carlos is a regular behind and in front of Berlin’s decks. When he is not dancing, he is the ultimate music lovers’ DJ, playing hand-picked gems (this list is in German, but you’ll get the scheme: mitvergnuegen.com) and serving a wide range from nitty gritty house to dubby disco and psychedelic electronic music.
Ludvig Gustafsson (A.T.V. Phantom Whistle, Dimensional / Amsterdam)
Since his first release “Marginal” in 2001, Ludvig played the clubs and bars he would come across. After topping his graphic design skills in Amsterdam, he later returned to Sweden and recorded and released the long awaited “Phantom Whistle” 12″ (check it here at clone.nl) as a part of the production outfit A.T.V. Dropping ear drumming tracks, no tags neither labels, he’s something you didn’t hear for a while.
Kim Sandgren (Dimensional, Vivid Bros / Stockholm)
It really hasn’t taken Kim very long to make himself all but ubiquitous on the Stockholm electronic music scene. Just a few years has seen Sandgren getting involved with this burgeoning healthy scene in every way. From spinning at great clubs, bars and parties, with luminaries such as Cosmo Vitelli, Pete Herbert and Serge Santiago, he enriched the scene further by arranging and hosting nights with other great international talent such as Daso, Ripperton and The Dirty Sound System. Listen to his latest set at soundcloud.com.
Wednesday / July 25
Planet Of Snail
Film Night / 8pm / Film 9pm
Young-Chan comes from the planet of Snail. Dwellers on this tiny planet are deaf and blind, and call themselves snails because they rely only on their tactile senses and communicating by touch. Young-Chan was not happy with such a lethargic life on his home and and came to Earth. Once he meets Soon-Ho his life begins to change.
Friday / July 27
Chucho Gasolina
Living Room / 10pm
During the mid-90s in Colombia a strange creature was reported by crowds of people living in the middle of Bogotá. Although riddled with fear, most who saw the creature were enthralled by the fine mix of salsa and rock music which seemed to emanate from it. Some say that creature is still alive today living off the flesh of worn-out ravers leaving Berghain…
