OUTSIDE-IN by ANDERS BIGUM AND IVAN PLANES CANO
Visual installation
Outside-In is a symbiosis between the analogue and the digital, between drawing and photography. The use of open and closed paths in the drawing reveals the relationship between space and shape, allowing the drawing to fuse with the photography and become an animated film piece. A rich exploration into textures and shapes in constant metamorphosis.

AADK (Aktuelle Architektur der Kultur) describes itself as a non-exclusive group: a “platform” for the AADK members and their guests to meet, exchange and act without the control and framing of a defined exterior body (academic, institution, location, ect).
The musicians, performers, visual artists and writers of the platform, in partnership with the space owners, are installing art spaces circling around the pathway of the Berlin U8 – in Wedding, Mitte, Neukölln, and Kreuzberg. Locating and relocating in different environments that delineate the city, they will present their work and that of their guests.
This idea of a temporary platform is extended to the public and to the city. The various paths traced by the viewers coming from one installed space to another – to attend, for instance, a live installation, then a performance and then a concert; to transition from a gallery in Neukölln to a concert venue in Wedding to a home in Mitte – will be mirrored in an installation displayed along the Berlin U-Bahn line. Linking the different art spaces together, this public installation elicits disturbances along these various paths. It aims to alter the perception and to allow reinterpretations of these interwoven corridors.
AADKunexpected does not commission works, and it does not act as a curator. The idea of free association that underlies the platform itself is put into practice during AADKunexpected to create a temporary community. The logic is that of contiguity (and extends to that of the public) – of interests, tastes, projections – and gives rise to a certain heterogeneity, and in consequence, to a relative degree of unexpectedness.
In this years event, AADKunexpected 2012 finds partners, meets fellow artists and discovers its actuality – a territory to inhabit actively.
