Whether you’re an artist, musician, designer, DJ or VJ, or if you have always have had the itch to create, you can now mobilize the tools that you already have to make your own device for audiovisuals entirely from free software – no previous coding background required.

Peter will provide hands-on instruction on how to develop your skills in producing electronic music and visual concepts by creating your own custom tools for making beats, noises, and live visuals in Pure Data and Processing. Bring a laptop or netbook running OS X, Windows, or Linux and you can transform it into a synth, drum machine, noisemaker, visualizer or VJ tool.

>> From workshop to performance
Throughout the three days, Laptops on Acid will combine three components:

1. LEARN: hands-on lessons in the software, and a demonstration of simple examples.
2. HACK: in an open lab format, try your own projects. If you have any, bring controllers and input devices like MIDI keyboards, joysticks or tablets.
3. PLAY: an open jam on the final day will let you try playing music and visuals together, with projectors and PA. Non-participants are welcome to join in as well.

On Saturday night, all of our participants will pool their skills together in an open jam from 19h. The workshop will come to a close at the VOID x Offline party – also featuring a live performance by workshop instructor Peter Kirn and Benjamin Weiss in the NERK/KIRN formation. Entry is free for all workshop participants from 23h.
